I give God praise for Hazel Waymire. Heaven was busy last week welcoming some of the most wonderful Christians from the earth. Hazel Waymire did a great job rearing a precious son who grew up to become a mighty Man of God, Pastor Jim Waymire, now pastor of Second Baptist Church of Festus, Missouri. Today Pastor Waymire spoke his mother’s funeral and took as his text, Proverbs 31. This virtuous woman influenced the life of her son who influenced the family of Trent and Laura Matthews. In that home was a little boy named Jared who gave his heart to Jesus and Jim Waymire baptized him. This little boy grew up to become a wonderful Christian young man and met another wonderful Christian young lady named Heather at Pensacola Christian College. Well, they married had three kids and now that young man is the Principle of the same Christian school he attended in his youth. Oh by the way, Heather is our daughter! Jim Waymire is the pastor of three of my grandchildren. So where did the confluence of this multigenerational blessing begin? I would say look to this godly mother named Hazel. I commend Pastor Waymire who fulfilled the prophecy of Proverbs 31:28: “Her children arise up, and call her blessed…”.
