I give a damn about what the film is about. I stress on how it is shown!You paint a still life of an apple on a plate and you paint it wonderfully. it will not matter if the apple is sweet or sour!who cares?i dont! - Alfred Hitchcock on evoking an emotional response on the audience. There is always an importance of content but showing it in the most effective manner matters the most. He uses Kuleshov effect in the most effective way specially in Rear Window. It changes everything,the perspective of the audience...and while editing for our own films,i too have found that this is the most effective editing weapon one can have. James Stewart rightly said that after watching rear window, he was shocked himself as he found that most of the expressions that he gave was juxtaposed with something completely different. Thanks to Hitchcocks path breaking story telling methods, I tried something similar too in This is Not a Documentary. Kuleshov pushes the barrier to a completely new level.editing a film and manipulating emotions is the craziest thing :D
