I got a Check Engine light on the Cadillac today. I have STAR for Mercedes but thats proprietary and doesnt work on domestic cars. Anyone know what is the best budget OBDII reader and software combo? Im seeing them on Ebay for like $9, but some only do basic drivetrain stuff, some do other functions such as A/C, SRS, ABS which are additional circuits outside drivetrain. I dont want one of the hand held units, I would like one of the readers (wired OR wireless) that works with a laptop/smartphone software app to read codes and monitor all the functions. Anyone have an knowledge if these new software apps and readers?
