I got a mail from Stony Brook. As follows: Dear Arindam Goswami, Thank you for your interest in Stony Brook University! Our system indicates that you are not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. As a non-immigrant student, if you choose to request a Stony Brook University issued Form I-20 or DS-2019 to obtain F-1 or J-1 student status, please complete the “Request for I-20/DS-2019” through accessVIS. If you do not wish to request a Form I-20 or DS-2019, please follow the log-in instructions below and submit the Current Immigration Status form in accessVIS. Note: Without a SBU issued I-20 or DS-2019 you cannot enter the U.S. as an F-1 or J-1 student unless another organization is issuing your form. Important: Visa and Immigration Services will not review requests for immigration documents until your admission is cleared by the appropriate admitting office (Undergraduate Admissions, the Graduate School, SPD, HSC, IAP). What is purpose of it? Even if the decision is not ready why they need this form to be filled up before hand? Is it generic mail for all applicant or its indication of admit? Please let me know.
