Plus there will provide interpreters: Justin Rudd and his nonprofit 501c3 Community Action Team are hosting a free Long Beach-area jobs and career summit on Sat., April 26, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Bay Shore Church, 5100 E. The Toledo, (Belmont Shore) Long Beach, 90803. Plus, a free pasta lunch is included, compliments of the Long Beach Turkey Trot. Fashioned after TEDx, approx. 18 speakers are expected to be on hand with 8- to 18-minute presentations for this conference that will accommodate 400 attendees. The summit will be filled with ideas, tips, and inspiration to, “purposefully get, get ahead, and get going with a job or career.” According to Rudd, “The goal for the event is to help people find jobs/careers by helping them get some practical job search and job security advice, find purpose, find a meaningful job/career, find success, and get their fire back. Underlying all of this, the summit is meant to be a day of inspiration and hope, all targeted to those who are unemployed, underemployed, and/or disenfranchised at their current job/career.” This is not a jobs/career fair. The opening session is 10 a.m. – noon followed by a one-hour FREE pasta buffet lunch. The afternoon session is 1-3 p.m., followed by a reception/mixer from 3-4 p.m. where attendees will be encouraged to mingle with the speakers and other attendees. The event will be interpreted for the hearing impaired by Yvonne Flynn.
