I got a request & I ended up being called a money chaser because I dont want to distribute my work for free for commercial uses (or in exchange for some references. I want to pay my model & my designer. I dont care for the money, I only care about paying my people for once instead of letting them pay so we can realize our ideas). In fact I dont even work for money at all, I shoot & this was my first real approach. I am not a charity (Im a student in learning process). Neither are any other artists out there. As long as we dont get all the things we want & need to survive or create our art for free, we wont do it either. You dont walk into the grocery store & ask for all the things you need and then demand to have it all for free in exchange for some free publication to your friends. We are just the same, we are no different then any other profession out there. I do not work commercially for now (soon I will, as I will graduate & start officially! Whooo). But many do. Many get daily these request simply because theyre artist & its just a *photo/painting/...*. Like anyone can do it. And it is in a blink of an eye because it doesnt take time/money/work to get there. Im pretty much aware of it that this wont change much, but I felt the need to talk about it. Im feeling very disgusted now by these messages simply because I refused to give out a collaboration for free for a commercial issue. Im a money chaser now & between the lines it was clear there was 0 respect for me. While I do not need to proof myself how Im (not); I do feel the need to talk about this issue because its just the whole world in that case just runs wrong. Its not even about the money, its about the respect for the art. The money is just the legal transaction like any transaction you do to purchase something you need for whatever reason. Be it food, clothing, a new mobile or something for on your wall. And definitely if you want to use it for your own financial support. Demanding something for free to sell it then & then being surprised (and in the end, disrespectful & angry) that you need to pay that share … So think. You dont purchase a pretty picture. You purchase an ArtWORK. Work like any other job out there. - note, this is different then collaborations. Collabs is teaming up & both gaining. I do only collabs since I feel only comfortable by that for now, I dont feel comfortable with working commercially because Im just a student & my experience so far is just this one)
