I got a serious chastising from a very old and respected friend. His argument was why dont you address yourself as Dr Patterson I said, its an accomplishment that I have, among many, and I dont wanna come off as pretentious. He went ballistic!! You worked your ass off to achieve the highest level of education that they say you can. Its already well known that YOU have to be twice as good to get half as far. So why wont you accept the title that you earned. You are an example to other black men so you owe it to them to call yourself Dr. I still feel some kind of way about it, but I cant argue his reasoning. Hell, even my wife got mad at me about it. Talk to me FB fam. What should I do?
