I got a very nice call from Dr. Liz Kremzier and we had a very good conversation about the tortoises. I have also checked into a few references and believe she is a very very good exotic/reptile vet and I think she is in a tough place and her main goal is to make sure the tortoises are taken care of. As we all have learned, the Art Museum is going to do what ever they want, no mater what it takes. There are many quacks out there who would love the job of taking care of these tortoises, but not be able to give them the care that they deserve. So she is ensuring their health through this and for that I thank her. More dialogue has come up with multiple people about how at the very least there needs to be signs and educational material around the exhibit about these tortoises and how they do not make good pets (or art) and how they are endangered and that no one should try this at home! So hopefully the AAM will at least make this good faith gesture and hopefully people will learn something from this exhibit above and beyond how fun it would be to attach things to tortoises!
