I got an interesting request a couple of days ago to write a piece about the Toadies from a 97s perspective. It came through the new editor of the Dallas Observer who has only lived here for 4 months. I think he thought the Toadies and the 97s were old friends, maybe even toured together in the way that we used to be roommates with the guys in Funland (AKA Melt as in Melt Show. We hadnt met them back in those days however, and only barely listened to their classic album Rubberneck. Over the last couple of years however, I rediscovered the album. This is what I came up with:
