I got asked the other day,What kind of person do I want as my fan or student? because we all attract the kind of person that we are. A tribe if you will. In my tribe, I want men and women who are emotionally tough but not necessarily phsyically strong. I want people in my tribe with good moral character who will actually stand up for right and wrong. These are people who might already be warriors but if not, they want to attain that designation in thier heart. In my tribe I want students who desire to spend the rest of thier lives becoming masters of Jiu- jitsu using only the finest technique. In the refinement of thier technique they must be willing to work on what they are not good at so that one day there will be nothing they are not good at. They must also see the necessity of Self-Defense but the beauty and innovation of competition Jiu-Jitsu as well. They understand that in Jiu-Jitsu we, from time to time, get tapped out but we dont look on it as loss we look on it as learning. In my tribe we view lower belts as our little brothers and sisters in order to guide them, not as fresh meat to eradicate. In my tribe we show respect and live a life of service but are willing to go to war if provoked. This is who I am and this is my tribe.
