I got back from Appleton earlier today and wanted to write a final - TopicsExpress

I got back from Appleton earlier today and wanted to write a final thought to last night. To put it simply, I am heartbroken by the results. It was a very rough night for Dems in Wisconsin and across the country. Republicans took the US Senate and held the US House as well as shifting Governor seats into their column. Dems also lost control in 8 additional state chambers and one fell into a tie. We were part of a very bad night and we need to learn from it quickly for the sake our democracy. We ran on a Republican drawn map, against monied interests writing dark money checks in order to get the legislature that will do their bidding, and we did it in a tough year. I just want to give a very big thank you to all of our amazing candidates for the dedication and sacrifice that that they put forward. Knocking on doors with Martha Laning for State Senate, Penny Bernard Schaber, Pat Bomhack, and Dean DeBroux for Senate, I could see the love for their neighbors on full display. It was heartbreaking to see this national tide knock them down (temporarily) last night. Ive talked to each of them at their toughest moment and they are immensely appreciative of the support of their friends, neighbors, and complete strangers who got out and worked on their behalf. We have two awesome new senators in Janet Bewley for Wisconsin and State Representative Janis Ringhand who will join us in the upper chamber in January. I look forward to the insight they bring as energized, new members of the senate caucus. Now is the time to regroup, reenergize, and renew the fight for the little guy in Wisconsin. Its time to focus again on rebuilding our great state. This is not a sprint, its a marathon.
