I got back from the hospital a little while ago (10:30pm) without Sandy. Lots of cardiac doctors came in today and the consensus seemed to have shifted from valve replacement through the groin (a less invasive procedure which we thought shed be getting), to the open heart approach. And they will probably do that this Monday. She had dialysis this afternoon and will get more before surgery (they want to get out as much fluid as they can). One of the docs estimated that shed be in the hospital 10-14 days and then in rehab 2 or 3 weeks. Thats not written in stone, just guidelines. Shes in one of the best hospitals around for all things cardiac so we feel shes in good, competent hands.
