I got caught!!! Thanks to Noah Gomes I got the number 12 (this was hard, brah!). And again, thanks to Lord Noah Gomes, Im actually going to go through with it. So, here’s 12 things you may not know about me (and may not care to know): 1. It should come as no surprise that one of my nicknames as a child was “Goody.” I like to think that name is still appropriate. 2. I took karate lessons for years as a child and progressed from a white, to purple, to a blue, to a green, to multiple levels of brown, and finally to a black belt. But don’t ask me to show you what I learned, because that won’t happen. 3. I once accidently stabbed myself with the tip of a pen (or maybe it was a mechanical pencil). I still have a tiny dot on my leg. It was my first “accidental” tattoo. 4. I find it almost impossible to talk without using my hands. I blame my hula upbringing for needing to make motions for every word. 5. I often laugh at my own jokes because I believe that I am genuinely funny, even when others don’t. lol. (I just did it.) 6. I had braces in the 4th and 5th grades and even had to wear a headgear in the 3rd grade. Yes, I even wore it to school and yes, I thought I was cool. I still do. 7. I love to write, but I prefer to write alone. I can get very emotionally invested in what I write: I laugh, I cry, I look ridiculous. But I’m convinced that it helps with the release of ideas. 8. I am terrible at math. Don’t ask me to calculate a tip or to figure out any type of simple equation. I still add and subtract using my fingers. 9. I almost never remember my dreams, yet I am a constant daydreamer. I can count on one hand the amount of vivid dreams I’ve had in my life. One involved an eel and it was on my birthday last year. 10. I am the only one in my family with crazy, frizzy, curly hair. I used to brush it when I was younger and therefore often rocked an embarrassing afro. I like to think I’ve learned how to control it since then (and by control, I mean that I’ve discovered gel and hairspray and the wonders of not using a brush.) 11. I’ve been dancing hula since I was a little girl, and as much as I love dancing, I love chanting even more. I remember the day I “found” my voice and my ʻiʻi as a chanter. I find joy in feeling the chant vibrate through my body. Its one of the best feelings in the world. 12. I’d like to live a life that is one day worth writing about, rather than write about a life that I’d like to live. I believe in dreaming, but more than that, I believe in making those dreams a reality. If you like this status, I can give you a number. But, dont worry, you dont have to follow through with it! :) Ill let you off the hook!
