I got in from work in Jonesboro and picking the boys up at school, and went out in the yard to feed the animals and to let the boys play. I let the turkeys out of the pen to graze a little and fed them some grain. I counted them and there was one missing and began looking about for it. About that time, I heard a shot from across the road. I walked across and asked the neighbors if they had seen the bird. They pointed at it lying dead next to their chained pitbull. They first said that their dog had killed it, but when pressed they ranted that they had killed it and would shoot any dog, turkey, lamb or whatever of ours that walked on their property. They keep nine dogs chained about their property and are inordinately fond of guns. At least one if them has been hauled off to prison in recent months. As I told the deputy, Im concerned about an escalating level of crazy.
