I got into a discussion just now with a gay athlete, Eric Turner, quoting an article from TIME magazine stating that Stolichnaya was not a Russian product, since the distributing company is in Latvia. According to a statement made in 2008 by the distributor ""Stolichnaya as it is sold outside Russia is distilled in Russia, it is moved from Russia to Latvia where it is put into bottles. There is nothing added, nothing taken away, no additions, no subtractions from the product that leaves Russia. Stolichnaya is the original genuine Vodka brand made from genuine authentic Russian vodka from Russia." I asked him how does that differ? If Russia made a luxury car distributed and sold in the US by AUDI or CHRYSLER would that exemption still be justified since neither distributing car companies are Russian? Any thought? Whats your opinion?
