I got married to my husband, the love of my life Haytham on the - TopicsExpress

I got married to my husband, the love of my life Haytham on the 29th of August 2012. We had a beautiful wedding and honeymoon in Egypt. We have known each other since we were children. He is Egyptian and I am half English, half Egyptian. I am a British Citizen. We applied for a six month Visit Visa in October 2012 as we did not have all the paperwork necessary to apply for a Spouse Visa at that time, namely the certificate to satisfy the new English language requirement. In our naivety we thought my husband could visit his wife in the UK while we ascertained this last piece of paperwork. How wrong we were! The UKBA decided at the beginning of December 2012 to refuse our application based on financial reasons, despite me being in full time employment and earning above any required threshold and despite H being in full time employment, owning his own property outright and having substantial savings. We appealed this decision at the end of December 2012 by increasing our savings and providing evidence that he owned his own property, would return to his job and that between us we can both fund a six month visit. As well as proving evidence that there would be no danger in him claiming any benefit from the taxpayer or overstaying his visa. In May 2013 they failed to submit a decision to our appeal on the date it was due and therefore I must now attend an Oral Hearing in October 2013. I have enlisted the help of my local MP. By October 2013 I will have been married for fourteen months. Fourteen months for a six month visit visa! I do not know how long it will take for a judge to either uphold or overturn this decision. If a visit visa is finally granted I do not know long it will take between getting the visa and H coming to the UK. I have travelled to Egypt four times since we got married. Although it is wonderful to have the opportunity to see my husband (as I am sure many cannot) it is not conducive to either annual leave at work or the purse strings. It also gets more and more emotional to leave him behind. This process has taken an unacceptable amount of time for absolutely no reason at all. H has has since sat and passed his exam and we fully intend to apply for a Spouse Visa. I dread to think how long this process will take. Despite all the uncertainty with regard to the above, one thing I am sure of is I will keep fighting for my human right to have married whomever I please and to have him live with me in my country. All we want is to be together. I refuse to be bullied into leaving my home, my family, my job, my friends and my life here. I am a British Citizen and yet those in the EEC are afforded more rights to my own country than I am. To the UKBA and Theresa May- you are ruining people’s lives, families and happiness. My only crime is that I love my husband.
