I got on Facebook, reluctantly, in late 2011. When I finally did, for what I was going through at the time and what God was teaching me as a result, led me to devote an increasing amount of time to Facebook posts. My intent was to help people see things that have been torqued and twisted over the past centuries and even millennia since Christ, in what had been taught by the scriptures shortly after the apostles died. The experience of posting has challenged me, made me dig deeper in both knowledge and character, taking scriptures very literally and very seriously, and as a result, I believe some good has resulted in my own life as a direct result of this. I pray I have blessed others as well. I am growing in my maintaining patience with those that are unreasonable and those that are rude. I have learned to rebuke myself when my reactions or responses have not been patient, polite, and gentle. So here is what I now believe is the best use of my time on Facebook about doctrinal issues and the like. Facebook can be a place for me to learn, be encouraged, encourage others, share what God is teaching me, and plant a seed that might grow up into increased holiness within someones heart through their changed in behavior. So I endeavor to engage with those that actually want to 1. listen and learn as much as 2. be heard and convince. Once it has become clear their position in those two approaches to discussions, I then apply...as much as time allows... a listening ear and consideration of what is said as much as share my heart from what I have learned from God to #1 ... and to category #2 above, I respectfully excuse myself from the discussion and dont engage with that person anymore until they demonstrate humility. Lastly, I have found Facebook to have really absorbed almost all of my free time, and I just need a break. So sometimes my lack of response is due to maybe I have already went back and forth a couple times, and just gotta get off and go about my day. You may have noticed I have not been on as much as I was a short while ago. Theres other venues to build Gods kingdom beside Facebook and I am wanting to devote some time to them.
