I got some new books yesterday! The Practice of Traditional Western Herbalism, by Matthew Wood; Biomagnetic and Herbal Therapy, by Dr. Michael Tierra; Nutritional Herbology, by Mark Pedersen; and the last one has a funny story attached. My husband, Sandy, told me this morning to expect a book to come that he bought for me. I jokingly told him I hoped it wasnt one that I just bought. He said he was sure it wasnt. It was, in his words, from some sort of gypsy woman. I laughed and showed him the book that came yesterday and asked him if that was the one. Yes, he also bought me Common Herbs for Natural Health by Juliette de Bairacli Levy. Out of the thousands of herbal books out there, he picked the same one! Great minds think alike! Or we are so in tune with each other that he picked up my thoughts. Or it was just a happy coincidence. Either way, I will have two copies, perhaps one to gift to someone. As always, local folks are welcome to stop in, pull up a chair and browse my library for fun or research. I have quite a collection and I am all about sharing information. There was a very nice lady that stopped in the other day who is anxious to come back just to read. Yesterday, a customer, another herbalist, came in to ask my advice about a problem and we had fun looking things up in several books and bantering back and forth. She commented that I helped her think of things she had forgotten about. Two heads are better than one, she said. I tend to agree. I should add that my consultations are free. I take down your information, especially medical issues and treatments that are already being done, along with lifestyle, stressors, etc. Together we come up with herbs, essential oils, nutritional therapy or other means of bringing you back from dis-ease.
