I got the following email from an idiot who was looking at our birds for adoption on Petfinder: Im not trying to be rude, but most of your prices are sale prices, not really adopting prices. Just because it says adoption fee because you rescue them, which is great you do for them, but dont try to fool people with terminology. For sale is for sale. I sent him the following reply: Have you ever been to our big, bright, clean facility and seen the care our birds receive compared to some of the lousy, filthy pet stores and overcrowded breeding facilities that I have seen? Are you aware of the large number of people we turn away because they have carelessly allowed previous birds to die from preventable injuries or diseases, they are chain smoking in the room where the bird will be kept, or they dont know anything about birds and just think they are pretty? Everyone who adopts from us has to fill out an application, pass a screening interview, and visit twice, plus we are about to start doing home visits for anyone who wants to adopt a bigger bird. So feel free to go elsewhere and find a bird that has had complete head to toe veterinary exams multiple times, often $100 or more in lab testing, surgery, or other treatments done, that is now up for adoption for $5 to $400. Im not trying to be rude either. I just dont think you know anything about us. So, who won that argument in your opinion?
