I got time to chat with a good Christian friend today and it was just amazing how we both came to agree on one main thing. It began with a discussion on when we were both seeking God and looking for Him in our lives. We were primarily looking for a special ‘experience’ to give us some sort of confirmation. And as we eventually gave our lives over to God we still looked for that ‘something extra special’ being blessed to us in his word, through his word, and even through his people. Now, many years later, the main foundation and focus is God’s word…no more and no less. We find that when we spend meaningful time in prayer and when we read God’s word, that is enough. That’s what matters…what this word God has to say to us. And if there is some ‘special experience’ accompanying that, then it is a real bonus. A special one…yes…but the point is that it is the word of God that is special now. All I can say is that if there is anyone tonight wondering what to look for if God is leading them in their lives, look for his word first and how it is applied to you. It may not be what you expected, but believe me it will be the right way.Take God at his word and you will never go wrong. All this might sound heavy, but it is actually an absolute delight when that special word speaks to your inner being!
