I got to see Nickel Creek live for the third time tonight - I saw - TopicsExpress

I got to see Nickel Creek live for the third time tonight - I saw them around 2000 at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood with about 60 people in the room (remember that Christiane Hitchcock?); then in 2005 at the Nokia Theatre in NYC with cousin Kate Kilbane. They split up shortly after but have reunited for their 25th Anniversary. (If you dont know, they are all now in their early 30s - they have been playing together since they were children.) I was about 20 minutes late because I had class, but only missed one song, and the second I got in my seat in the front row of the last balcony at the Mesa Arts Center, they started the riff for the song This Side, which I have posted here many times. Perhaps just as much as the Grateful Dead, the music of Nickel Creek feels like it is singing from my blood, reflecting everything I think I am and everything I want to be and everything I want to say to people, and perhaps no song says that more than this one. Hearing it live for the first time - and possibly the last, as there is no guarantee they will tour together again - instantly reminded me of why I love music, why I love God, and why I believe that despite of all the darkness in the world and all of the struggles we watch each other face, we are blessed to have the lives we share and SO BLESSED to really, and truly not know anything. Try to cherish how free your mind is, how much your imagination can comfort you, and how much sharing your voice and the music of your soul can lift you at the darkest time. You dream in colors that have never been made / You imagine the songs that have never been played / They will try to buy you and your mind / Only the curious have something to find.... https://youtube/watch?v=_nneEIX59I8
