I got to talk to my brother Steve last night! Hooray! Its been a while since either of us felt well enough to be on the phone, so it was a real treat. He had a very difficult weekend this past weekend, and admitted to me that his morale was really low. But, he also mentioned that the cards, letters, and gifts of help continue to come and he is SO grateful. He told me he had gotten pretty cynical about people, but this experience has reminded him of all the good in the world and the truly good hearted people who are in it. That is such a valuable gift...I cant thank you all enough for that aspect of this journey. Heres the medical update: Steve is still struggling with hydration, but the IVs helped a lot and hes continuing to try to keep enough fluids coming in. He may need more IVs, but theyre not scheduled at this time. The bloodwork still looks good and the doctors say the tumor is STILL shrinking, still responding to the chemotherapy...a relief since this round of chemo is particularly nasty and difficult for Steve. More of his hair has fallen out and hes down to about 153 pounds, pretty slim even for him. Hes also slightly anemic, so theyll keep an eye on that and he may be in line for a blood transfusion in a few weeks. A new petscan is scheduled for November 26th and were looking forward to the results. I still feel well ultimately have a positive outcome. And, I have to share with you...hearing the gratitude and love in Steves voice when he talks about how people have come forward, literally made me cry. Hes such a strong man and has always taken care of himself and his family, so asking for help was hard. Hes now learned that WE thrive when we can reach out to help someone, even someone we dont personally know. I join him in that gratitude. Each of you has come forward in a profound way and we simply cannot thank you enough. Now that his fundraising site is active, hes able to think more about his treatment, to let go and have faith that we and others will help with keep a roof over his head, lights on, and medical bills at bay. Please share that site far and wide and lets get social media and the viral nature of our world work to his advantage. As always, I thank you and wish you love and peace. youcaring/SteveStrong
