I gotta say I have found freedom by moving to Rhode Island. I dont care what people think of me here. So I can wear whatever I want and I go to the beach and dont care that Im overweight. Back in Ne I was always worried about running into someone who knew me and they would judge me. Years ago this did happen. I had just gained a bunch of weight and felt so horrible. I ran into an old classmate from Millard South. I wont say who it was but the first words out of her mouth was oh my God Katt what happened to you. Youre fat. Her friend was shocked and I was hurt. Her friend said - oh my god that was so mean which she then said yeah but you didnt see her when we went to school together. She had a great body. Anyway needless to say this just killed me. It hurt so bad. So for yrs I fought my weight and for yrs I was terrified of running into old friends and classmates. I would wear huge baggy clothing, especially when I was younger, and was even scared to wear color. Blue, black, grey and brown. Those were the only colors I would wear because I didnt want to bring any attention to myself by wearing color. When I hit my 30s I finally broke free of that and slowly started to get my confidence back but I still never really felt okay. Here in Rhode Island I can wear whatever I want because no one knows me and there is just a different attitude out here. They dont care what size you are or what you wear. It feels freeing. For the first time since I was a kid I actually want to go shopping for some dresses. I still love NE - it will always be my home. But here in RI Im starting to get my confidence back and it feels great!!!!
