I grew up a Chicagoland kid... The city and suburbs of Chicagoland are still in my heart. WGN-TV, Ray Rayner, Bozos Circus, Garfield Goose, Family Classics with Frasier Thomas, Lincoln Park, The Adler Planetarium, The John G. Shed Aquarium, Brookfield Zoo, Lake Shore Drive, Lower Wacker Drive, Water Tower Place, the Sears Tower, the Hancock Building, the Marina Towers, the North Shore, the South Side, the Burbs! The pizza! Portillos! Da Bears, the Blackhawks, the Bulls, the White Sox, the Cubs, Wrigley Field... and then (no matter where you grew up)... ...there was Mr. Ernie Banks - Mr. Cub. Mr. Sunshine. Baseball Hall of Fame Inductee. Presidential Medal of Freedom Recipient. Gentleman. Ernie Banks was truly a class act! His smile... His genuineness... His athletic talent on a baseball field... Whoever saw Ernie play, heard him speak, or knew him personally - felt his kind Spirit touch them in a positive way. Thanks for your Light on this Earth Ernie.... Mr. Cub. Mr. Sunshine. RIP.
