I grew up as a Gray surrounded by Grays in Plymouth, Yarmouth Co., NS. Capt Jesse Gray was my 4th great grandfather. Many people have tried to figure him out over the years, with very few results. Hes a puzzle, that guy. I spend hours every day reading letters, wills, tax/voting lists, census, church and court records ... if it has Capt Jesse in it, Ive read it. There are a few theories bouncing around about his origins, but nothing solid that the dates, places, family, and other circumstances line up to satisfy me. Im currently detouring to his brother Samuel, hoping to maybe find something there ... not much luck so far. ANY information anyone may have on my family or anyone near or related to them would be greatly appreciated!
