I grew up in Albanys SouthEnd in the 1950s and 1960s. I still live in Albany. It breaks my heart to see these buildings and others like them throughout the city. It did not happen overnight. I dont want to start the blame game because there is plenty of blame to go around: lack of code enforcement, flight to the suburbs, absentee landlords, banks refusing to finance the rehabilitation of certain neighborhoods, etc. My purpose is to find out what is being done by city and county governments, banks, business community, state legislature, el al to rectify this situation. And what do the 518ers suggest should be done?
