I grew up in DeLand, the county seat of Volusia County and was involved in some of the revitalization efforts to preserve the rich heritage of this quaint and awesome little town. Recently, I got a personal tour of what has happen in my hometown by one of my favorite girls, Ms Susie Macon, someone that has quietly guided the progress from the beginning. DeLand is quickly becoming a pedestrian village, not just along the beautiful Woodland Boulevard but now with quaint little alleyways that wind in, out and around the historic old courthouse that is the focal point of my beautiful hometown. I invite you to visit Delightful DeLand (as it was dubbed on old post cards shortly after the turn of the 1900s) and explore what makes this town so special to me. Many new places popping up in hidden little alleys like Dally in the Alley as featured in the Orlando Sentinel article below.
