I grew up in a time when people looked at each other when they talked. Couples walking hand in hand, and enjoy each other. Laughing and talking to each other. Picked up a phone to hear a voice, or run outside, play softball, or play ice hockey at the park on an old fashion rink. Mailed a letter to someone to let them know I was thinking of them. What has this world become, and what do we expect in the near future. No one will ever make eye contact? The park swings no longer occupied by children? No more waiting anxiously for that birthday card from that far away relative or friend? It is sad to me that these things have become something from the past. I cant tell you how much joy it brings me to hear my phone ringing and answering it to hear my childrens voices, and hearing what their day was like, their joys, their heartaches, their concerns. See you cant hear the tone of joy, desperation, sorrow in a text message. You can only read it with feelings dis-attached. People have become so technology driven, that it is hurting everyone. Look up sometimes, and smile to another person.. The little semi colon, dash, open parenthesis just doesnt do the same for me. I would rather hear the laughter, and imagine the smile. How about you?
