I grew up on welfare. Many times the only food in the house was from our garden or day old bread and lard and flour to make gravy over the bread. Many times I went with my dad to the government food bank to get a box of food and a loaf of cheese. He would bring home donuts that he took out of a dumpster behind the donut store that was thrown out after it was a couple days old. We as kids didnt know this and it didnt matter.
