I guess I dont believe in magic. 364 days of the year I can say to - TopicsExpress

I guess I dont believe in magic. 364 days of the year I can say to myself with certainty that magic isnt real. But its funny how there arent any constants in life. The divide between black and white always bleeds a little gray. One day of the year, in a town youve probably never heard of, there might just be something I could only think to call magic. Its not a feeling youve ever felt, nor is it one that can be described. There arent words for this sort of thing, you just have to experience it. On this one day, the universe syncs up just a little bit better. Time moves a little slower, the sun shines a little brighter, the beer is a little colder. Pretty girls smile your way. Theres a plethora of reasons that a less keen mind would chalk this day up to, but those who have felt it know. See, here there is no slight of hand to follow closely, no smoke and mirrors to see through. If youre fast and, more importantly, if youre lucky, you might just see magic first hand. A car drives by. An eye in the rear window twinkles. If only you could get close enough to that glint, oh the things you would see. A jenga tower falls to the feet of five half-dressed undergrads in a dingy apartment at 4 am. 25 idiots chant Barretts Privateers in a ski lodge basement. Two disheveled 20-somethings hide in their sunglasses from the white glare of a Quebec City morning, and one swears the other to secrecy. Instantaneously, the universe tremors. All of these shimmers accumulate and suddenly something is different. Theres an electricity in the air caused by hundreds of existences changing forever, all at once. Minds and hearts fr the better, livers and kidneys for the worse. Dont blink because it happens quickly. But if youve done right by the world and maybe if God smiles upon you today, then you might just be lucky enough to see pure, bonafide magic. Happy Move-in Day. Miss everyone lots. Im so lonely.
