I guess I understand that progress comes at a cost. Theres animal testing for disease cures, and this articles touches on animal testing for meat production techniques, making the meat healthier, easier to produce, and cheaper to maintain. It gives an inside view of the research being done and the unexpected outcomes to the modifications. The motivation behind the experiments is being able to produce meat to satisfy the consumption in 2050 - to which I wish the solution was more along the lines of researching how to modify the culture to reduce meat intake (may be by offering better non meat alternatives than tofu and salads) - rather than playing I know better than evolution. nytimes/2015/01/20/dining/animal-welfare-at-risk-in-experiments-for-meat-industry.html
