I guess Im old fashioned... But when someone asks a favor, or pitches or invites and I have to decline for ANY reason... I STILL think its VERY appropriate to send a thank you anyway - or thanks for your response or I appreciate your consideration or SOMETHING. Just DROPPING someone like a hot potato does not communicate consideration or professionalism (in my opinion). Or maybe Im just being silly and theyre being efficient...
