I guess Ive got some splaining to do. Facebook and video games - TopicsExpress

I guess Ive got some splaining to do. Facebook and video games have been my saviours of sanity here of late. You see, I moved recently--just down the street, to a living and working space leased by the owners of the gallery. Trouble is, the owners of that property are a dysfunctional family, constantly fighting with one another, and usually about money. A contract was drawn up and signed. Money was paid up front. So, no worries, right? Wrong. Over the weekend a few of the family members banded together and felt as though they were being cheated out of what they deemed a fair price. They summoned a friendly neighborhood police officer (likely another family member), and padlocked the entry to the compound shut. They stood watch with their armed and badged friend from their current living space directly across the street. Everything I own has been under someone elses lock and key for the past four days. Ive not been able to work on my projects nor the bosses. Ive showered, but not shaved nor changed clothes during the hiatus. One of our owners spoke with his attorney yesterday. Today, they, in turn, got their own set of cops, and demanded that the locks be removed. There was much discussion but the family complied. This proved to be temporary as it was agreed that we would remove our current furniture projects, tools, equipment, and supplies. The doors would be sealed again until which time a permanent agreement can be made and all parties are satisfied, so my personal effects had to be removed as well. So, Ive moved back to the gallery until the peace accord can be reached. Maybe days, maybe weeks, but not indefinitely. My newly acquired privacy and 3 weeks of hard work are on the back burner for now. Im affected but not directly involved. Im confident Ill return soon. There was also a recent (Saturday night) death in the family of my brother Wayan Kock. I think that it was his grandfathers sister (whatever youd call that relation), if I understood the translations correctly. Balinese families, as a rule, dont wander very far from the nucleus. The woman had lived next door. Although they were not all that close, Wayan must be on hand to receive the friends and other relatives that pop by to pay their respects. Those ceremonies I spoke of prior have been postponed for a few days. Regular (whatever the hell that is) work schedule resumes in the morning. Im looking forward to that long overdue shave. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
