I guess utility companies dont like overpayment because I received a check on September 2nd for $492.69. Then 2 weeks later I am notified via a 10 day gas shut off notice!! Except that someone changed the account into my wifes name and she was notified a only few days before the shut off. Before the unauthorized name change my number was on the account since I pay the bill. There are many details which I will skip- the point is this: there is a possibility this could hurt my credit rating and point two is that this wont look good in court for me in divorce proceedings. Whats frustrating is that someone made an error or are playing games. I will vigorously pursue damages if this affects my credit score or is mentioned in court in a negative way or any reference thereof.
