I guess you have to balance your own economy and how far you can - TopicsExpress

I guess you have to balance your own economy and how far you can go to squeeze the benefits from economies that focus on mercantilist policies to develop. How long before the mercantilist economies have nothing more to gain from exporting and must instead focus on their domestic economy? And when this happens, how do economies adjust? How do they employ the number of people that were employed during times of rising debt levels? In order for an economy to keep aggregate demand at full-employment levels, what needs to be done? Does leisure eventually play a lot bigger role in aggregate demand? How much of an economys resources can be thrown at providing social security and healthcare to the elderly? What level of productive resources can be diverted to providing for the elderly and still allow those in the workforce to feel that they (collectively) are still able to obtain all the material things they feel they should be entitled to based on their productivity? The one thing to remember is that the government is not only about redistribution. The reality is, the government, on behalf of society still does manage the resources of the country. The royalties collected on developing these assets are also used to provide incomes for those that rely on government to make ends meet. How well these resources are managed is what determines the level of overall happiness a society is able to reach.
