I had a chance to meet Larry Kaifesh at our train station just now. Hes going for the 8th district seat against Tammy Duckworth, and I remembered Junaid M. Afeefs post on his recent comments on Izlam. I respectfully approached him after the initial meet/handshake and read the statement he made, and I told him that if true it is incorrect and not fair to classify an entire religion due to the actions of a few and that his views on Muhammad (S) were skewed. Furthermore, I told him his views contradict the very FLYER he was passing out to everyone showing him with people that kind of resembled...muslims? He, respectfully as well I should add, did say his comments were misinterpreted by Tribune but bought up ISIS and how the founder is a scholar/PhD and also quoted some author and his comments to which I had to say that the scholars *I* follow wholeheartedly condemn this group and are completely against their heinous acts/beliefs. The approaching Metra train cut our conversation short. Ill be quite honest: Im not into U.S. politics as much as other muslims in our community. But, I sincerely appreciate the work theyre doing, and I think it absolutely does have an impact and we should try our best to vote.
