I had a close shave on Thursday night so I sent this email: To whom it may concern On Thursday 6th October at approximately 17:58 I was travelling home on Lorimer St in Port Melbourne. As I approached the intersection of Lorimer St and Salmon St, the left turn light went from green to yellow. As the light turned red, a van marked Alliance Relocations ran the red and turned left almost knocking me off my bicycle. This is extremely aggressive driving, not to mention illegal behaviour. Your driver clearly needs education as to the road laws, not to mention how to share the road with other road users. The light facing would have gone green in a matter of seconds, but your driver decided he didnt want to wait and nearly caused an accident. Cyclists like myself are vulnerable road users and are legally allowed on the road. I choose to ride on Lorimer St as it is much less busy than other routes and is normally quite safe. I do not expect to be nearly hit by impatient drivers running red lights! I have uploaded a video of the incident to Youtube: Alliance relocations close shave youtu.be/KeTYOpdf4bA I recommend you give all of your drivers some education about sharing the road with vulnerable road users.
