I had a conversation with an American journalist earlier today who was extremely prejudiced. Unfortunately, he lived in one state in his entire life and never had a chance to explore the world. Those who have very limited experience of the realities of the world tend to think that life is a straight line. They have never experienced the tyranny, abuse, poverty, conflicts and upheavals that so many people across the world have to endure. They have never seen and experienced what the real world looks like. It is not possible to fully comprehend the realities others face through textbooks and selected TV footages. When these same people expect you to uphold their values, read their holy books and follow their rules and standards, you should gently remind them that your professional and life experience is actually richer than theirs. That is exactly what I did.
