I had a conversation with my father yesterday that really grounded me. He was saying so many people attempt to flex a muscle and end up tearing a ligament simply because it isnt their time to shine yet and theyre trying to rush what could be greatness if they wait their turn. I used to feel bad when I see people taking trips to Miami etc but then I realize most of these people arent even doing better than me. I make great money...lotta money...lol...and I could travel+splurge but I want to stay in the field with my students as a leader and improve my skills and theirs...I lead and instruct by example...I want student success stories more than I want my own success, thats just my character. (I am going to go to Africa soon though. I prefer cultural excursions.) Throughout the years Ive seen people take trips, get cars, splurge and then you see years later youve made more progress because they were showing off and not investing/allocating the resources to have a long term presence and legacy. My dad has an 800 credit, score owns a home, always has the latest luxury car...but is humble and mostly drives his old pick up truck doing better much than people who flaunt. Stay humble and wait your turn...really the best bet is to never give off the Impression youre on top of the world...because after the peak..es the drop... I never want to be at the top of the top...until I die..I want to be ascending, hungry, growing and making, constant progress not shining for 6 months and back on them ramen noodles. LOL
