I had a conversation with one of my daughters the other night and one of the things that we talked about was the first concert that I ever took her to which was Harry Chapin - Harry picked her up and called her a princess and held her on his lap while he signed autographs after the show. Came around to the fact that I always wanted another book that he had signed but it wound up with my ex wife - For years I had looked for one and not found one but during that conversation one showed up on Ebay which I quickly bought. My second daughter Corey got her name from a Chapin song Coreys coming. Well thats the good part of the conversation - we went on to talk about other things and I came to a realization that I now knew what has been causing me such pain and depression. Somehow I just blurted out that they comes a time in your life when if you look forward, it becomes apparent the rest of your life cannot live up to what you had in the past. I suppose it might be the opposite if you had a bad time growing up. Anyway, I have no idea why Im putting this out there. To most people , Harry was a gentle writer Taxi, Cats in the Cradle, Better Place to be. But I remember him most by a song that I think maybe the best written song i have ever heard (apologies to L.Cohen & Bob Dylan). That song was called Sniper. Im attaching a live version. The way in which he wrote and sang this song I think shows what real musicianship is all about - youtu.be/dT1cxP3JT0c
