I had a crazy thought. Consider the wear and tear on a 45 year old Rogers drum set from playing hundreds of gigs and lugging the drums around. So why is it so important to have a 45 year old set that looks brand new? What is wrong with character? I dont mind at all buying stuff that may have a few imperfections. As long as the drums and hardware are still presentable at a gig I dont care as much. So maybe this is why I strike out a lot on eBay. The sellers are fixing the stuff up like new so it looks fresh off the shelf. To me 45 year old drums can have a few flaws. I just dont want the wrap to be peeling off or extra holes drilled in the drums. Some minor pitting and maybe a rust spot on a stand is okay with me as long as it is not major. I receive a lot of compliments on my Rogers set and it is far from perfect.
