I had a dream....first it was the halls of a very large, old and established university that I was viewing. I had worked there before, the corridors looked etched with time, great time, hard education and the voices of knowledge permeating those walls with speech. I looked out from a 9 foot tall window...evidently Victorian...around me the settling of desks and older students gathering for their classes (almost a repeat of what I had experienced in real...quite some time ago, teaching and gathering preparation. (Charles University, Prague- Pedagogical Faculty Courses, first recollections, later the music school HAMU) The second scene in this dream was a gift of a typewriter. Now why a typewriter? I have my computer set...but this was different. It was a small modern unit, very light and had one purpose...typing...and memory 4.8TB. There were no displays or added features in this module, the outside of the box...label Braun. It was placed before me, a gift from the establishment. I was enthusiastic...auto format, auto spell, and something called Tele Authoring (Ive never heard this word...the information went to a group of writers that made proof edits, with little lag time...-one could literally write a book and have it printed, bound and ready at the push of a button..sent in box-load for pickup or delivery at the bookstores..5 hours from writing.) I was enthusiastic by my gift (the new features were disturbing however..but very practical) The device had nostalgia though...a type writer set..looking like the same gizmos we used in my 7th grade- middle school -typing class. Looking back Ms. Bloom, our teacher would have been proud. (she would play Mozart and Schubert during class sessions as she built fast typists--actually she was a pianist and found the keyboard of the type writer an added extension-- The Liszt School of typing classes. Back to the dream...I knew it was some kind of placement. Perhaps just a dream perhaps thought twenty thousand words have been laid down out there--somewhere and need to be worked on. Unfortunately the gift typewriter did not have a metronome...
