I had a dream last night that I had a conversation with a kid who was like the best high school athlete ever, and I was so convincing while talking to him that he decided to go to Lehigh (my alma mater) on the spot. And then there was this big banquet welcoming him to Lehigh. And my old swim coach (who we called Coach) was there, but he was now the Director of Admissions. And he got up and welcomed the kid to Lehigh and there was a huge cheer. And then he looked directly at me. And he explained how I had been so convincing, and so awesome, and so he extended me a job offer to recruit potential candidates, and that they would pay me $100,000 a year and offer me full benefits, including total dental coverage, and that it was starting immediately. And Coach came over and gave me a hug, and we both stood there bawling as everyone in the room rose out of their seats and gave us a standing ovation. And then he took me to my new office which was my own big space, with a big, thick door, and dark, hardwood trim and lots of huge windows in a 200-year-old beautiful stone building. And then I woke up, ecstatic that our money problems were solved. And then that shit-that-didnt-actually-happen-realization set in. I hate it when that happens. like = me too. Or maybe its a harbinger.
