I had a fascinating time at the Nutricia factory in Wednesday and Ive had some great feedback on my presentation. It was so interesting to meet the head of product development who actually had no idea that Neocate is such a thin liquid when made up and of the difficulties this can cause alongside an active reflux! We also discussed the taste of Neocate and there are ongoing studies and research into trying to improve this but it is a difficult and long process. I also mentioned about it being sold in such small tins and they think this is something that can be addressed quite soon. The cost is not something that is going to change but it is their mission to continue to educate the NHS and Local GPs that the initial cost of prescribing Neocate saves money in the long-term as for the patient it often reduces the necessity for further gp visits, treatments and management of associated conditions to CMPI and Reflux. All in all, an incredibly useful, informative and positive event - and we are hoping to plan of holding similar events across the UK with the aim of raising awareness of Infant Reflux and CMPI.
