I had a frequent patient who recently passed away. He was one of my favorite patients to transport because while his recent lifes memories had been taken away by Alzheimers he was still quite cognizant of his youth. He knew my grandmother back then as teens and knew a lot of the history of Lexington that she knew. We could share stories. I learned a lot about her and her world in the 1930-1940 era of Lexington from talking with him. He knew so much of the things that most people in this area have no clue about. He loved to talk of the rich musical history of Lexington, KY. He would talk about the great musicians who played in Joyland park. Would talk about the dance hall there and the people who would play there. He would brag about people who played in Lexington because they were part of the narco farm band things my grandma would rarely speak of but that I distinctly remembered talking with her about when she could remember them. These conversations were a blessing to me and also to him. Im going to miss them.
