I had a friend who wanted our "PEAR CRISP" recipe so...I typed it out for her and I figured someone else mite like to try it. IT IS FABULOUS and of course, comes from Paula Deen so it is loaded with calories. My aunt Dorothy Thompson made a mean Pear pie but this makes up for my yearning for a slice of it. It works with apples too but you really need to try a pear crisp if u havent had one, just as good or better than apple crisp.... RECIPE.......... Mary Lou PeckS Pear Crisp... for a 9 x 13 pan...6 large pears or 2.50 pounds. peeled, cored and thinly sliced. 1/4 cup warm water, 1 lemon juiced, 2 cups rolled oats, 2 cups flour, 2 cups brown sugar, 2 TB cinnamon, 2.50 sticks butter melted, dont use oleo , it isnt as good! This is a Paula Deen recipe so its heavy on the butter but it is perfect as the recipe is written, so...dont change it. Extra cinnamon/brown sugar....DIRECTIONS.......Preheat oven to 350 and combine the pears water and lemon juice in a baking pan. I always lightly sprinkle the fruit then with extra cinnamon and brown sugar but it doesnt call for it, but it is better that way.....In a bowl combine oats, flour, sugar and cinnamon. Pour in the melted BUTTER, not oleo and stir to make a crumbly mixture. Spread topping evenly over the fruit. bake for 45 to 55 minutes or until topping is crisp and brown..YUMMY!!!!
