I had a great week and next week is looking good as well. I resigned from the Democratic Central Committee as a voting member to do some other things with my time. I got a call from two friends on the committee Paula and Wanda inviting me to lunch in Lakeport. I did not know until I arrived at the restaurant that it was a celebration in my honor for serving on the Committee for 10 years. It was very nice with about 20 Democratic friends there and much appreciated by me. Friday I was a guest on Olgas KPFZ Radio Show Voices to talk about my 16 month journey with Ovarian cancer. I reminded women to not rely on a pap smear but to have a pelvic exam every year and the first caller said she had just called and make an appointment with Dr. Paula Dhanda and thanked me for the reminder. After a certain age women are no longer advised to have a pelvic exam. A week before my diagnosis I received a card that said my pap smear was clear. After that call we had several callers asking questions and telling their stories. Olga then took me and our mutual friend Nola to lunch at TRS. I met up with them later at Jeri Spittler Candidate Lake County Board of Supervisors District 2 opening of her Campaign Office where there was an overflowing crowd of supporters enjoying a Mexican Feast. Today I spent time at the home of a member of Soroptimist International Clear Lake where we held a retreat to make plans for the year ahead. Great ideas from a group of great women. Swimming after the meeting and a delicious steak dinner to top things off. I opted to come home instead of going to a party tonight because I was just out of steam. Fatigue is the only symptom I have of my cancer presently and I have managed to put on 10 pounds and hang on to it for a few weeks now. Im thinking I might want to watch my weight as I have a ferocious appetite. Tomorrow I will go to Lucerne to the opening of Jim Steeles Campaign Office. He is a candidate for Board of Supervisors District 3. Keeping busy and loving my life and appreciating all my friends support and encouragement.
