I had a high school friend bait me pretty well the other day. He put up a low gas price and stated, Thank you Obama. I bit on it and proceded to straighten that misconception out. Had a good laugh Grant Taylor. Then I started to think. (Weird) Do you think that we have people in this country that actually believe that President Obama and his administration are responsible for the low gas prices? Well...here goes. Let me clear on this. (Haha. Just had to throw that in.) Our history of moving from a mostly agricultural society to that of the industrial revolution to the situation we are today has had a common factor....oil. So domestically we have searched for the big strike and produced so much oil early on. When we finally figured out that many areas in the Middle East were able to simply scratch the sand and get oil, it became obvious that it would be cheaper to buy foreign oil than to dig it here. In recent history, we have become very dependent on foreign oil which has pushed us into even more involvement into these Middle Eastern countries to include economically, and politically. With the price of a barrel of crude going up and over $100, our country has focused on the production of oil here again along with alternative fuels. We did such a good job with the alternative fuels and the fracking that we have scared the Middle East and this is how they keep us on the proverbial teet. They flood the market with cheap oil from their stock piles which in turn will force American Industry to purchase this cheaper oil because they are only concerned about the bottom line and not the future of this country economically. The Obama Administration is totally against fracking and will soon pull funding for alternative fuels with the promise from the Saudi Prince that we will never see $100 a barrel oil again. Instead, now is the time to boost our country economically and push forward with alternative fuels and domestic oil and gas. The cheap oil is costing us jobs. If the government and private industry want continued long term success of this country economically, they will fund these projects. Hell, place a .50 cent tax on gas to go to these projects. We will still come out ahead.
