I had a humbling moment today that was just such a positive reminder. Driving home from LA I saw a homeless man (like I do at almost every corner). Sometimes I try and help out, but most of the time I am so consumed with my own life, I have a tendency to look at them as if they were just another landmark. I also struggle with being quick to judge, when truthfully it is none of my business how they got on the street. Honestly, I think most people do. We are called to love each other, not evaluate them if they are worthy. The man I saw today had a sign that said bread, water, anything helps. I passed him and went through a couple more lights and couldnt stop thinking about his sign. I pulled my car over to get my blue tooth out of my back seat and I saw a ziplock bag that had 5 Hawaiian rolls in it. (I take them to help with some of my medicine that upsets my stomach). I also noticed I had 3 bottles of water. Since i already ate lunch, i was probably just going to toss the rolls. Immediately I had such a lump in my throat. Bread and water are two of the most basic essentials of surviving. Something I take for granted everyday. I turned my car around and drove back to the intersection he was standing and rolled down my window. I gave him gum, bread, water, and some hand sanitizer that was in my purse. There was no conversation, just a quick head nod and smile, but I couldnt stop thinking about bread and water. In our country there are people needing just bread and water. Most people living in the city are used to this and some people will live in the same small town there whole life never seeing someone sleeping/eating on the streets. Regardless of where I ever live, I pray God keeps walking me through these reminders in life. #grateful
