I had a long, hard day with the rewrite. When I add a scene the editor wants, that means I have to change a great deal of what I’d written after it. Bits of dialogue have to be changed, and repeated phrases. There are lots of little bubbles from 2 editors telling me I should add some phrase, which means I have to write it, then go back and figure out where I can fit it into the story smoothly. I wrote about 10 new pages, then managed to rewrite about 40 pages. Intense work! Then I had to put it all into MSWord. That nearly had me in tears. Sweet Violet, if I meet you, you are going to have to take an hour and give me a lesson on that blasted software. Surely, there is a way to make it do what I want it to!! All in all, it’s not much for a day’s work, but it is so draining that I want to flop across the bed and sleep. I still have 80 pages to go, and some of the most difficult changes are in the last pages. I may miss some posts for a while as tomorrow I have to pack, the next day the movers come, and on Friday I fly home. When I get back I have to finish this rewrite, than Linda is going to send me the rewrite on the Jamie book. Aaaarrrgggghhhh!!! I want to hide out in my apartment, with no access to computers or phones. Just me and a whole bunch of blank paper and lots of pens. How do you handle interruptions in your work? Jude
